Paul hindemith in ludus tonalis11/9/2022 ![]() There is a discussion of the number of voices, order of entries", order of statements of the theme, key relationships, and redundant entries. In Chapters III and IV, analyses are made of the expositions in the forty-eight fugues of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier and Hindemith's Ludus Tonalis. Emphasis is placed on the fugal form that Bach used and on Hindemith's neo-Baroque approach to fugal writing in the twentieth century. In this chapter, imitative forms of composition which gradually evolved toward the fugue are traced from their very early beginnings through the sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries. An emphasis is placed on a comparison of Bach's fugal writing with that of his immediate predecessors (composers of the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries who were writing in the fugal style) and on a comparison Of Hindemith's theory of tonality, as expressed in The Craft of Musical Composition, with that of the traditional harmonic concept of Bach's day.Ĭhapter II deals with the evolution of the fugal concept. This comparison is made on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the fugal expositions both collections of fugues mentioned ( The Well-Tempered by Bach and the Ludus Tonalis by Hindemith).Ĭhapter I includes a discussion of the careers and compositional techniques of Bach and Hindemith. ![]() Bach in the fugue expositions of The Well-Tempered Clavier and that of Paul Hindemith in the fugue expositions of the Ludus Tonalis. Erika Jayne accused Lisa Vanderpump of having chronic bad breath in a comment posted to Instagram over the weekend. The SUR owner previously stated that she will not return to “RHOBH” unless Bravo “cleaned house” with the current cast. She had a challenging final season after the rest of the cast seemingly turned their backs on her amid “Puppygate.” At the time, Vanderpump was accused of allegedly leaking a story about Dorit Kemsley to the press. This isn’t the first time Vanderpump has been slammed by a former co-star after leaving “RHOBH” in 2019 after nine seasons. Jayne accused Vanderpump of having chronic bad breath. Lisa Vanderpump has a fairly close relationship with several of the people who work at her restaurants and bars and many of the stars of the hit Bravo series Vanderpump Rules. “I’m just glad I’m not in this pic,” Stracke, 50, wrote in the comments section of a post from has yet to respond to or address Jayne’s latest accusation. Maybe Garcelle should have sent her a scratch and sniff book or something.” “I thought that was kind of pretty mean, honestly,” Vanderpump told E! News last Thursday. The comment was fired off after Vanderpump, 61, addressed Jayne, 50, throwing Garcelle Beauvais’ memoir “Love Me As I Am” in the trash. The “Pretty Mess” singer claimed Vanderpump’s mouth “reeks of garlic, cigarettes and chardonnay” while responding to a post from the Instagram account over the weekend. Anno 1800 wiki lumber11/9/2022 ![]() ![]() And Catharine became a grandmother several times over. Conrad married someone we do not know, but I am guessing her name was either Mary or Louesa, the names of his two daughters. Daniel married Anne Walker about that time, Barbara married Jacob Hinkle in 1808. Also there were still at home toddlers Thomas Jefferson and Elihu whom everyone called Hugh. The family survived the trauma of settling an estate. That house is still there I have seen it. Catharine's share was the house Johanne had built her, out buildings, and the remaining 11 acres of the 136-acre parcel. John got 200 acres, Daniel got 70 acres (was it more fertile and in a valley?), Conrad got 125 acres of a 136-acre parcel. A commission was set up to divide the land and consider Catharine's request, and it included among others ThomasMcGee, esquire (attorney), brother of Daniel. Immediately Catharine filed for a dower right to an equal portion of the land. Peter Forney was made Guardian of the boys since John was 21, Daniel 19, and Conrad only 16. The month after Daniel died, October 1805, her sons filed for partition of Johanne's land between the three of them. ![]() He had lived in her home since they married and left very little - mostly clothes - to be sold at auction to help her raise his children.īut the estate of Johanne, Catharine's first husband, was still not settled. Then when Thomas was about five years old andHugh about two, Daniel died. See more on Daniel McGee under his notes.Ĭatharine bore Daniel two children: Thomas Jefferson McGee, probably named after his brother, and Hugh (Elihu) McGee, possibly another of Daniel's relatives. His brother, Thomas, spent eleven pounds, possibly to make their presence more respectable. I wonder if he was standing next to her during the sale. He only bought a pottle (half-gallon container) and plate for three shillings, and bid right next to her. Johannes had bought the woman for her just before her first child was born, and she must have grown close to this woman, not willing to make any money at the expense of their friendship.Īlso at the sale was Daniel McGee whom she would later marry. She did buy back her negro woman and child for 168 pounds, 4 shillings. Interestingly, she did not buy any furniture. Catharine spent a total of 100 pounds, 171 shillings and 54 pence on mostly kitchen ware, a tub, a mare and woman's saddle, a quill wheel to make writing pens, some books (yes, she was educated) three cows (probably milk cows so she could make some money], and even a tub (for bathing?). Therefore, law required that all his movable assets be sold at auction. Otherearly 1800s burials included both Riegelmans and Wills.Ĭatharine's husband, Johanne Will, died September 1793 and without a will. Also, Catharine Reigelman would have been about twenty-one by then.īuriels in the Dunkel Church, Lenhartsville, Berks County, Pa., include Conrad Riegelmann, b. The fact that Johannes Will stayed single until he was thirty indicates partially that he had not found the woman he wanted to marry and may have decided to go back to Pennsylvania where his brother, Daniel lived, to marry a childhood friend. Notice that one of Johannes and Catharine Will's sons was named Conrad, whom I believe was named after her father. Johan Wilhelmus Mueller - This could be the FATHER OF ANNA SOPHIA DOROTHEA who married Conrad In 1748, the ship "Two Brothers" from Rotterdam and Portsmouth had the following passenger: Notice the likenesses of the names Killian, Rudesill, and Drack long associated with the Wills in both Pa. Johanne Will was born and christened at the same church.Īccording to the research of Laura DeWald, Catharina's father was Conrad Rigelmann. I believe that Catharine's maiden name was Reigelman based on the following:Ĭatharine Rigelmann was born Maand christened Apat the Zion Lutheran Church at Moselem in Windsor Township, BerksCounty, Pennsylvania. Restaurant abridge11/9/2022 ![]() ![]() This early 19 th century bar and restaurant began its business catering to gamblers visiting the Union Course Racing Track in Woodhaven in Queens. ![]() It’s known for its farm to table policy on all food and this means even bar snacks are prepared with the freshest ingredients around. Its current look is sweet and welcoming, with a gentle nautical theme and potted flowers hanging outside. It remained hidden until the 21 st amendment passed, and it was safe to serve alcohol to anyone who passed again. It made good money servicing soldiers with drinks before starting to serve food in the early 20 th century.ĭuring Prohibition, the bar’s secretive location and nameless frontage made it the perfect place for a speakeasy. The building itself dates back even further into the 18 th century and was constructed in honor of African soldier James Brown who resisted the British at the side of George Washington.īrown is even said to appear in the famous painting where Washington crosses the Delaware River. It wasn’t until the 1970s that the inn got its name but before that, it was at the heart of plenty of action. With a cozy feel and a classic American beer and burger menu, you’d never imagine the history this place holds. Hidden on the far west side of Soho, Ear Inn has an interesting and intriguing backstory. The history of this wonderful seafood shack means it has to appear on our list and hopefully, visitors will be able to see it back to its best in the near future. Unfortunately, the original wooden frame of the café was damaged during Storm Sandy, but they’re still hoping to reopen very soon. The restaurant has maintained a great reputation, with President Biden considered one of their patrons and a great fan of their food. Some of the best-known New Yorkers experienced a Bridge Café soft shell crab in the late 18 th century, with politicians and financiers amongst its biggest customers. It began back in 1794 and served delicious and unmistakably local soft shell crabs. Bridge Café (1794)īridge Café on New York’s Water Street has been serving up fine foods since the 18 th century. They also specialize in great beers and whiskey too, which is a great way to settle into New York City living. The restaurant’s food offering has a classic all-American feel and they are particularly known for their brunch. Strangely, you can even see one of Washington’s teeth on display in the museum at the tavern to this day. Still, by November 1785, we’d won it back as General George Clinton held an honorary banquet at the tavern in honor of George Washington. The British took control of the restaurant to feed their soldiers during the American War of Independence. This restaurant’s age means it has an extremely rich history worth exploring, and you can explore it on-site in the museum, which sits above the tavern. There is some confusion over the age of the building, which may date back as far as 1722, but the restaurant within is a slightly newer creation.īefore opening as a tavern by Samuel Fraunces, it was used for trading and also as a dance school. Stefan strumbel kuckucksuhr kaufen11/9/2022 ![]() At first glance, the external shape of the objects does not reveal anything of the disturbing content - always solid and meticulous wood carvings, which, with their brightly colored varnish, convey the impression of superficial pop culture. Stefan Strumbel currently lives and works in Offenburg. In his works, Stefan Strumbel exaggerates cultural and cult objects such as cuckoo clocks, wooden masks from the Alemannic Carnival or crucifixes with style elements from Street Art and Pop Art and places them in a new, sometimes provocative context, for example replacing significant elements of the cuckoo clock such as carvings by original symbols of home through motifs associated with violence, pornography and death. ![]() Funky stripes beautifying the choir wall, LED light shining on speech bubbles and comic-book elements, all innovatively adorn the Catholic Church. The New York Times recently commissioned the artist to design the cover of the their magazine. Leading print media such as Der Spiegel and FAZ published articles about the 6 meters high Madonna dressed in traditional Black Forest clothing, enthroning with her infant Jesus above the entrance. The re-opening of the brand new designed Church on the Jwas recognized throughout all media platform. Even Pastor Thomas Braunstein praised Strumbel’s work as “a gift from heaven”. ![]() After initial skepticism towards the project, he soon owned the support of the whole town community. Strumbel approached the church with the idea of a completely modern intervention. With his transformed objects, Strumbel successfully creates an illusionary world, which reflects societies real maladies. In the German village of Goldscheuer, the artist reconstructed the interior of the built in 1962 Catholic Church Maria, help for the Christians. He exposes the mechanism of a society that in its desire for status and the pursuit of consumerism surrenders to the constant attraction of the media. Strumbel raises significant identity questions with his work: How do I define Heimat? How do I perceive myself? How do I project myself to the outside world? How and through what do I define myself? With his art, Strumbel initiates a change in social values: Traditional ideals, clichéd notions of home and the reality of the individual are dissolved and transformed into an aesthetic that becomes an allegory of social status symbols. A German word that cannot be entirely translated one on one but loosely refers to heritage or home. Another key aspect of this work refers to the concept of Heimat. Strumbel, however, creates both, a unique artificial and artistic aesthetic with his usage of extreme exaggerations in regard to form content. With their colorful and bright surface, the artworks appear as light and shiny pieces of Pop Art. At first sight, these objects don’t reveal any of the disturbing content but appear as beautifully crafted wooden sculptures. By doing so, he puts the objects into a completely new and often provocative context, always pushing boundaries. ![]() He replaces significant elements of the cuckoo’s clock, such as traditionally carved ornaments with motives that deal with the subjects of violence, pornography and death. Thinly sliced as sashimi or dressed with olive oil and lemon for crudo, the geoduck’s siphon packs enormous clam flavor into a pleasing al dente texture, while the body meat plumps up nicely for a quick, succulent stir-fry. More than 90 percent of our geoducks are shipped off to Asia, but resident shellfish lovers are beginning to understand what some locals have known all along: The geoduck easily lives up to its new marketing name, king clam. #Speeding the geo duck freeOnce you can touch the shell, excavate around the clam to free it from its vacuum-sealed lair. Once one is spotted, I like to dig nearby, shoveling down and then across to the clam’s burrow-like a bank robber tunneling into a vault. They betray their whereabouts with a yard-long, double-barreled siphon that sometimes protrudes from the hole. Geoduck larvae will bury themselves 3 feet beneath the substrate soon after hatching and then remain entombed for the rest of their lives, which can be 100 years or longer. Its strange name derives from the Nisqually word gweduk, meaning “dig deep.” Pioneers sometimes called them “horsenecks,” or worse. It’s hard to say which is more difficult-locating the clam’s home or digging it out. If you haven’t tried unearthing a geoduck before, this will be your last best chance of the year. The first week in July will see a few in the negative 3-foot range. Although a few of the big clams live as far south as Baja California, Puget Sound is a stronghold of abundance, and it is here where the art of geoduck clamming has been perfected.
